CU Swimming & Diving Preview - at SUNY Potsdam (1/18)

Eleven days after facing SUNY Potsdam in a tri-meet at Fuller Pool, the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving teams will head across town to face the Bears once again when the two teams compete on Saturday afternoon.

The Series: Clarkson's men have beaten SUNY Potsdam in each matchup over the last 10 meetings with only one of those decisions spanning fewer than 50 points. Over the last four, Clarkson has won by an average of 124 points, bolstered considerably by the last two, where the Knights ran away by an average of 179 points. The women have won six straight against the Bears, and each of those matchups saw Clarkson win by more than 50 points as well. The Knights' last four wins have averaged 91 points, including a 111-point victory last Tuesday.

The Men: Junior Landon Colby won five individual races against the Bears in his first two years, taking the 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly, and 400 individual medley as a freshman and then the 100 and 200 butterfly in his sophomore season. Michael Schroeder and Andrew Sammons also won a pair of events last year, while Casey Everett and diver Gavin Cibelli won a pair last week.

The Women: Although Gabriela McSwieney and Ava Lamontagne each won a pair of events last season against the Bears, with McSwieney taking the 400 and 800 freestyle events and Lamontagne claiming top honors in the 100 breaststroke and 100 freestyle, the earlier matchup saw first-year collegians busy as well. Both Fiona Reilly (200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke) and Natasha Hurff (200 freestyle, 400 freestyle) won individual races while Evelyn Vieira took first-place in both diving events against the Bears last week.
