Canton, NY - An even-round from sophomore Ryan Makowski highlighted the Clarkson University Golf team's performance on day one, putting the Golden Knights' 'A' team in first place among 11 five-man squads at the midway point of the St. Lawrence Invitational, held at the par-72 Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course.

The Green and Gold's top squad was 14-over with a score of 302, two ahead of St. John Fisher (304) and three strokes fewer than St. Lawrence's two entrants (305). Clarkson's 'B' team shot 316 and is tied for sixth in the field.

Makowski shot even-par for the day, firing a 72 to place second out of 58 through 18 holes, one shot off the top spot. Freshman Tyler Yacawych was unfazed by his first competitive look at Oliver D.
