Spoth Fires 68 at Bethpage Red, Knights Finish Sixth at Farmingdale Spring Invite

Farmingdale, NY - Freshman Eric Spoth shot two-under par 68 for the Clarkson University Golf team, as the Golden Knights finished up a two-day event at Bethpage Red, placing sixth among nine teams at the Farmingdale State Spring Golf Invitational. 

The Golden Knights shot 604 overall in 36 holes, scoring 301 on the first day and 303 on day two. Clarkson will participate in the 54-hole Liberty League Championships next weekend to close out the month of April. 

Spoth finished with a two-day score of 143, scoring 75 on the first day and then tallying just 68 on day two, placing him in a tie for fourth out of 54 golfers. He scored 34 on the front nine and 34 on the back nine, recording a birdie on the fourth hole (a par-four) and also the 14th hole (a par-four) along with 16 pars. The two-under 68 is the best score shot by any Clarkson golfer in the 2023-24 season and he is also the first Golden Knight to shoot two-under for a round of 18 holes this season. 

Andrew Palmatier shot 77 on day two to finish at 151, placing him in a tie for 22nd, picking up 12 pars. Next for the Knights was Ryan Makowski, as he placed tied for 28th with a score of 154, recording an 81 on the second day with eight pars. Aaron Walsh rounded out Clarkson's team score with a 77, finishing at 156 for 36 holes and tying for 36th. Walsh posted 11 pars and picked up a birdie on the seventh hole. Outside of the team score was Brant Bomberger, as he finished the two-day event at 169, tying for 51st overall after an 83 on Sunday. He had a birdie on the ninth hole also had six pars.
