Box Score
Oswego, NY – In his first collegiate start, junior Eric Gellasch made nine saves to help the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team outlast Oswego State 8-7 in non-league action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Knights evened their record at 2-2 overall while Oswego State fell to 0-3. Clarkson is on the road one more time before playing two home contests, as the Green and Gold travel to SUNY Geneseo on Saturday.

Although Clarkson had a sizeable advantage in shots (26-16) and shots on goal (16-9) in the first half, the Golden Knights found themselves in a tight contest against Oswego State in the first half. Thomas Fiebich found Andrew Kearney for a goal in the first 90 seconds, but it was the Lakers that would score the next two goals. The Knights knotted up the score at 6:43 when Sebastian Geiger and Fiebich connected, and a few moments later freshman James O'Rourke scored on a tough angle with a lefty shot into the upper right corner, putting the Knights ahead 3-2.

Clarkson opened the second quarter with another lefty shot from Tyler Hall, this time with Hall rolling around the crease and threading the needle at 10:12. With three goals in a stretch of 11 minutes, it appeared as if the Knights would start spreading the margin, but Oswego's defense clamped down to make sure the gap stayed at two goals through the half.

In the opening minutes of the third, Mario Streiff found Geiger to give Clarkson its biggest lead of the game at 6-3. Two goals separated by less than 10 seconds quickly narrowed the deficit for the Lakers. Jason Dongelewic scored at 7:44 and on the ensuing faceoff, long-stick midfielder Rob Nelson scooped up the groundball and rushed down the field to score, putting the tally at 6-5. The two teams traded goals for the next 20 minutes.

The final goal of the game came while Oswego State was on the man-up when Garrett Elston found the twine with just under four minutes to go. Clarkson's Logan Wilkinson won the ensuing faceoff and burned a minute off the clock before the Lakers regained possession. However, in that stretch only one shot was taken by Oswego, and that attempt was wide of the cage, causing the Lakers to lose possession with just over a minute remaining. For the final 75 seconds, Clarkson's attack and midfielders ran around the Lakers' defensive zone, eluding double teams and maintaining possession to hold on for the one-goal win.

Sebastian Geiger and Andrew Kearney each tallied three points in the win, with Geiger scoring three goals and Kearney producing two goals and an assist. Mario Streiff and Thomas Fiebich each had two assists, while James O'Rourke scored a pair of goals. Logan Wilkinson had five groundballs.

For Oswego, Corey O'Connor scored three goals, Garrett Elson had a goal and an assist, and Liam Sexton chipped in two assists.

Clarkson finished with a 43-32 edge in shots, though the shots on goal differential was wider from a percentage standpoint at 27-18. Seamus Hand made 19 saves for the Lakers while Eric Gellasch had nine saves for the Knights.
