Lake Placid, NY – For the first time since 2018, the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team gained a spot on the podium as the Golden Knights' men finished third in the giant slalom in the USCSA National Championships Wednesday at Whiteface Mountain.

The Golden Knights took the third spot among 25 teams, finishing 4.47 seconds ahead of the fourth-place squad. It was the first time that the Knights were in the top three teams at the USCSA Nationals since 2018 when the squad won the giant slalom, and the third time since 2014 that the men were on the podium at Whiteface.

Senior Sam Hayden continued his standout season for the Knights, placing fifth among 85 finishers with a time of 1:10.64 as the day was limited to one run due to racing conditions. Reed Martin was next for the Knights, taking 24th with a time of 1:16.70, and Jackson Knobloch closed out Clarkson's team time by coming in 29th in 1:17.67. Even with Knobloch, the Knights still would have taken the third spot since Jack Donaldson came in 32nd in 1:18.41.

Thursday's schedule is the women's slalom, though conditions may alter how things go over the next few days.
