Lake Placid, NY – The Clarkson University Nordic and Alpine Ski teams had very different results on the first day of the USCSA National Championships, as the Golden Knights' Nordic men finished first in the 7.5K Skate and the women took 10th in the same event, while the Green and Gold women struggled on the slopes at Whiteface Mountain.

The Golden Knights' men had just 16 points in the 7.5K Skate with three skiers in the top eight, easily topping the second place team (28 points) for the day and leading a group of 13 teams. Clarkson's women were 10th among 14 teams with 106 points. Clarkson's Alpine women did not finish with a team score in the giant slalom as only one skier finished both runs.

Conner Roberts was the top performer for the Knights, taking third out of 61 skiers in the 7.5K Skate, finishing in 21:54.0 and roughly 85 seconds behind the pace-setter. Kai Richter challenged his teammate for a podium spot, but finished fifth in 22:12.1. Joey Rouhana returned after a long absence from competitive racing over the last few weeks and came in eighth in 22:33.5 to round out Clarkson's team score of 16 points. The next three teams finished with 28, 33, and 42 points, respectively.

Torsten Brickley performed well in the event, taking 22nd overall in 24:08.5, while Adam Jansen was five slots lower in 27th with a time of 24:26.8. Oliver Dolcino (48th, 27:14.9) and Noah Payne (52nd, 28:32.7) were in the second half of the finishers.

For the women, Lillian Magnus surprised by returning from an ailment a few days earlier than expected, and then came up with a 28th-place showing to lead the Knights (30:00.7). Skylar Francis was the next to cross the finish line for Clarkson, taking 35th in 30:43.5. Sadie Williams then closed out Clarkson's scoring trio with a finish of 52nd in 39:55.3. Raegan Joly (53rd, 40:38.7) and Clare Janas (55th, 59:32.4) were just short of contributing to the team score.

Things did not go as planned for the Clarkson Alpine team, as three of the Golden Knights' four healthy female skiers failed to finish their first run, keeping the school out of the team scoring. Isabella Pelkey was the lone Clarkson skier to finish in the final standings, as she placed 55th overall among 67 skiers with a time of 3:01.55.
