Schroeder and McSwieney In Top 10 Four Times in Saturday's Middlebury Invite Sessions

Middlebury, VT – Gabriela McSwieney and Michael Schroeder were busy participants for the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving team as each finished in the top 10 of four different events to headline the Golden Knights' performance on Saturday at the Middlebury Invitational.

McSwieney's top finish of the day was a third-place showing in the 500 freestyle, as she hit the touchpad in 5:18.95. Earlier in the day, McSwieney took eighth in the 200 freestyle (2:04.56) and she also closed out the top 10 in both the 100 backstroke (1:06.54) and 100 freestyle (57.50).

Sydney Kanner had a pair of top-10 finishes, coming in fifth in the 400 individual medley (5:26.82) and closing out the 200 breaststroke in ninth in 2:56.76. Ava Lamontagne took sixth in the 500 freestyle (5:41.31) and one spot lower was Shannon Glor with a time of 5:48.04. Dani McDonald was also sixth in the 200 butterfly (2:49.09) and Paige Cutler was fourth in the 3-meter dive (244.55 points). Additionally, the foursome of Glor, Lamontagne, Ellen Patterson, and McSwieney combined for a time of 8:49.53, good enough for fourth in the 800 freestyle relay.

On the men's side, Schroeder swam in four specialty events, with his best showing coming in the 200 backstroke, taking seventh in 2:04.86. He also placed eighth in the 200 butterfly (2:04.30), ninth in the 100 butterfly (54.33), and ninth in the 100 backstroke (56.21).

Calvin Woolfolk had three top-10 finishes, placing eighth in the 400 individual medley (4:46.47), 10th in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.47), and 10th in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.03).

Mason Cartier also was in the top 10 twice in the two backstroke races, coming in eighth in the 200 back (2:06.95) and 10th in the 100 back (57.42). A number of other swimmers had multiple top 10 showings. Matt Sitarek came in sixth in the 400 individual medley (4:37.28) and ninth in the 200 breaststroke (2:20.81), Colin Cordy was fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:52.06) and 10th in the 500 freestyle (5:05.06), Casey Everett was fifth in the 200 free (1:52.83) and ninth in the 500 free (5:02.09).

Other solid performances came from Tristan Miranda (seventh in the 400 individual medley, 4:44.94), Landon Colby (eighth in the 100 butterfly, 54.23), Andrew Sypko (sixth in the 200 freestyle, 1:55.55), Andrew Sammons (eighth in the 200 breaststroke, 2:18.33), Connor Tasselmyer (eighth in the 100 freestyle, 48.35), and Gavin Stuhler (ninth in the 100 freestyle, 49.00). Max Lempert also came in sixth in the 3-meter dive with a score of 2:35.70.

Clarkson's group of Owen White, Miranda, Colby, and Stuhler also took fifth place in the 800 freestyle relay in 7:29.17.
