Woolfolk and Schroeder Headline Knights on Day Two of Don Richards Invite

Rochester, NY – Both Calvin Woolfolk and Michael Schroeder had a pair of top-four finishes for the Clarkson University Swimming and Diving teams over the course of two sessions on day two of the Don Richards Invitational, held Saturday at RIT's Judson Pool.

The Golden Knights men finished third out of seven teams with 616 points, just 27 behind second place Skidmore College. The Clarkson women slipped to fifth place with 364 points, just 29 behind William Smith in fourth and only 56 behind third place St. Lawrence University.

Schroeder swam four individual events on Saturday, taking seventh in the 100 butterfly (52.24) and then placing third in the 100 backstroke (54.28) and fourth in the 200 backstroke (1:57.55). He closed out his day by taking fifth in the 200 butterfly (1:58.44). In two of those events, Schroeder was followed closely by teammates, as Landon Colby was eighth in the 100 butterfly (52.26) and Mason Cartier took fifth in the 100 backstroke (54.74). Calvin Woolfolk started his day with a fourth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (59.00) and then ended up with a third-place showing in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.50). Andrew Sammons also scored key points in those same events, taking sixth in the 100 breaststroke (59.60) and fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:10.90).

Gavin Stuhler posted a pair of top-10 finishes in the short freestyle events, coming in sixth in the 200 freestyle (1:46.32) and then ninth in the 100 freestyle (48.10). Casey Everett almost had the top showing of the weekend when he came in third in the 1650 freestyle (16:52.78), which was less than a second out of the runner-up spot despite it being such a lengthy event. Other top finishers for Clarkson were Owen White, who took fifth in the 400 individual medley (4:22.93), and Gavin Cibelli, who ended up taking sixth-place points in the 3-meter dive (351.80). Both of Clarkson's relays on the men's side came in third. Cartier, Woolfolk, Colby, and Stuhler started the day with a 1:36.36 finish in the 200 medley relay and Schroeder, Colby, White, and Stuhler ended it by combining for third in 3:16.07 in the 400 freestyle relay.

On the women's side, Clarkson began its day by placing fourth in the 200 medley relay thanks to Aurora Zary, Fiona Reilly, Dani McDonald, and Gabriela McSwieney, finishing in 1:56.72. The Knights edged up a spot in the 400 freestyle relay with Zary, Natasha Hurff, Reilly, and McSwieney closing out that event in 3:47.40.

The best individual finish for the women was Aurora Zary, who came in fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:13.79). Zary also had one other top-10 finish, taking ninth in the 100 backstroke (1:03.56). Like Zary, Fiona Reilly also took fourth, doing so in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.48) to go along with a fifth-place showing in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.04) earlier in the day.

Gabriela McSwieney also picked up key points for the Knights, coming in fifth in the 1650 freestyle (18:59.22) and then sixth in the 100 freestyle (55.70). Natasha Hurff was seventh in the 200 freestyle (2:02.57) and then Evelyn Vieira and Devon Sedlack finished back-to-back in the 1-meter dive, with Vieira in seventh (321.60 points) and Sedlack eighth (302.95). Katelyn Otis was the top performer for the Knights in two other events, coming in 14th in the 100 butterfly (1:07.56) and 11th in the 200 butterfly (2:27.91).
