Rochester, NY – Freshman Natasha Hurff had the best individual showing on Friday afternoon for the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving team, taking third in the 500 freestyle to headline the Golden Knights first session at the Don Richards Invitational, hosted by RIT.

Both squads reside in third place after 12 events, with the men in bronze spot among seven teams with 186 points and the women similarly placed out of seven having scored 140 points. The second session begins at 9:00 am on Saturday and the third starts at 4:00 pm tomorrow afternoon.

Clarkson's 'A' relays performed well, with the Golden Knights' women taking fourth in the 200 freestyle thanks to Aurora Zary, Fiona Reilly, Kirsten Isles, and Gabriela McSwieney (1:43.95) and placing fourth again in the 400 medley relay with Zary, Reilly, Katelyn Otis, and McSwieney (4:15.69) comprising that group. The Clarkson men finished third in the 200 freestyle relay, led by Andrew Sypko, Owen White, Landon Colby, and Gavin Stuhler (1:28.42). The 400 medley relay group consisted of Michael Schroeder, Calvin Woolfolk, Colby and Stuhler, and that foursome produced a time of 3:29.20, again finishing third.

The top performance of the day came from Hurff, as she was third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:20.09, and on the men's side Casey Everett was just one spot further down in fourth in 4:46.87, though he was just 5.69 seconds off the top time in the event.
