Knights Celebrate Seniors in Swim Split Versus St. Mike's

Potsdam, NY – Michael Schroeder celebrated his Senior Day with three victories as the Clarkson University Swimming and Diving team split with St. Michael's on Saturday afternoon at Fuller Pool.

The Golden Knights' men won 202-96 while the Clarkson women came up just short 154-140. The Green and Gold will have a weekend off before competing in the annual North Country Invitational on November 22-23.

Results versus St. Michael's (11/9)

Schroeder stood out for his three victories, taking first place in the 100 backstroke (1:01.28) and also first in both the 100 butterfly (59.01) and 200 butterfly (2:19.66). Gavin Stuhler was a part of four victories on the day, including a pair of individual events. Stuhler won both of the sprint freestyle races, coming in first in the 50 freestyle (24.11) and taking top honors in the 100 freestyle (55.02). He also was a part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:51.13) along with Mason Cartier, Calvin Woolfolk, and Landon Colby, and again on the meet-ending 200 freestyle relay (1:41.43) with Andrew Sypko, Hannes Lohse, and Colby.

Andrew Sammons won both of his starts, hitting the pad first for the 100 breaststroke (1:08.29) and 200 breaststroke (2:32.32). From the diving boards, Carter Lancto won the 3-meter board with a score of 198.95 and Gavin Cibelli had the top score in the 1-meter with 215.35.

Clarkson's women also had a senior with two wins. Gabriela McSwieney won a pair of freestyle races, coming in first in the 100 freestyle (1:03.83) and later placing first in the 400 freestyle (4:50.97). In her second collegiate meet, Aurora Zary won two events. She repeated with wins in the 100 backstroke (1:11.39) and 200 backstroke (2:33.26). Other newcomers to the program also claimed wins, as Natasha Hurff picked up first-place points in the 200 freestyle (2:18.71), Katelyn Otis won the 200 butterfly (2:46.23), and Fiona Reilly claimed the best top in the 200 individual medley (2:35.70). Evelyn Vieira swept the diving events for the Knights, winning the 1-meter with a score of 188.15 and then taking the top tally in the 3-meter with 191.80 points.
