McSwieney Wins Trio of Events in Knights Split at Oswego

Oswego, NY – Five different swimmers and one diver won multiple events for the Clarkson University Swimming and Diving team on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Knights split their dual meet with Oswego State.

Clarkson's men walked away with a 210-83 victory while the women came up short in a 182-114 decision.

Although Clarkson's women fell to the Lakers, Gabriela McSwieney had the biggest day for any of the Golden Knights, winning her three individual starts. McSwieney started her day with a victory in the 1000 freestyle (11:30.99) and came back with a win in the 100 backstroke (1:05.81). She then took first in another distance event, taking top honors in the 500 freestyle in 5:35.93. Freshman Fiona Reilly also won two events, placing first in the 50 backstroke (30.91) and the 100 individual medley (1:05.69) while Evelyn Vieira had the top score in the 3-meter dive (200.45 points) for the Knights.

On the men's side, Casey Everett won two starts, taking the 200 freestyle (1:51.46) and one of his accustomed distance races, the 500 freestyle, in 5:03.14. Mason Cartier won a pair of backstroke races, placing first in the 50 (25.81) and 100 (55.69). Gavin Stuhler won those distances in the sprint freestyle events, finishing the 50 free in 22.16 and the 100 free in 49.49. Carter Lancto had the top score in the 3-meter dive (180.70) and 1-meter dive (185.70).

The Golden Knights' men also had several other winners, including Collin Cordy (1000 freestyle, 10:47.46), Landon Colby (50 butterfly, 24.50), Michael Schroeder (100 butterfly, 55.04), Calvin Woolfolk (100 breaststroke, 1:02.70), and Owen White (100 individual medley, 57.83). Clarkson's 200 medley relay team of Schroeder, Sammons, Colby, and Stuhler also combined for first-place points with a time of 1:41.76.
