Knights Fall in Dual Meet Versus Skidmore

Potsdam, NY - Home for the second time in three weeks, the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving team took on conference foe Skidmore College Saturday afternoon, falling on both the men's side (170-128) and women's end (213.5-80.5) at Fuller Pool.

The Golden Knights swim a pair of dual meets next weekend, hosting St. Lawrence University on Friday afternoon and then hopping the bus to take on Oswego State on Saturday.

Highlights for the Clarkson men came in the deeper end of the pool on Saturday when Gavin Cibelli posted a pair of wins off the diving boards, winning the top spot in the 3-meter with 219.65 points and later taking first in the 1-meter with a score of 223.50. Two others won individual events for the Knights, and both nearly picked up additional victories later on in the day. Casey Everett won the 800 freestyle by 11.74 seconds with a time of 9:10.54 and later had the runner-up spot in the 400 freestyle in 4:24.42, off by a little over three seconds. Gavin Stuhler did the reverse, winning his shorter race in the 50 freestyle by a hair (.01 seconds) in 24.28 and was a little over a half second off the pace in the 100 freestyle in 55.23 seconds.

The lone individual winner for Clarkson's women was Gabriela McSwieney, as she claimed the top time in the 400 freestyle in 4:50.60. Clarkson's four swimmer relay of Ava Lamontagne, Kirsten Isles, Dani McDonald, and McSwieney ended the day by tying for first in the 200 freestyle relay (2:01.26). Evelyn Vieira was close in the diving events, coming up as the second scorer in the 3-meter (172.10) and the 1-meter (191.05).
