Six Swimmers Win Multipe Events in Clarkson's Final Dual Meet of 2023-24

Potsdam, NY – Competing in a dual meet for the first time in more than two months, the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving team returned to action on Saturday with an impressive sweep over SUNY Potsdam at Fuller Pool.

The Golden Knights' men won 232-60 and Clarkson's women won by 100 points, 185-85. Clarkson will close out its regular season in two weekends when it goes to Vermont for the Middlebury Invitational in advance of the Liberty League Championships at the end of February.

Numerous swimmers won individual events for the Knights on the women's side, with Gabriela McSwieney and Ava Lamontagne each winning two events for Clarkson. McSwieney won a pair of distance freestyle races, taking top honors in the 800 freestyle (9:57.69) and 400 freestyle (4:50.72), and Lamontagne won both the 100 breaststroke (1:24.99) and 100 freestyle (1:05.21). Early in the day, Shannon Glor won the 200 freestyle (2:22.25) and Bella Triolet had the top time in the 100 backstroke (1:13.71). Later on in the meet, Rachel Mietlicki won the 200 butterfly (3:00.25), Emily Greene claimed the top spot in the 50 freestyle (30.11), Maria Nenadic was victorious in the 200 backstroke (2:42.01), Sydney Kanner came in first in the 200 breaststroke (3:10.89), and Grace Girard won the 100 butterfly (1:14.92).

Clarkson also won both relays as the foursome of Maria Nenadic, Sydney Kanner, Grace Girard, and Bella Triolet combined for a time of 2:16.23 in the 200 medley relay. Nenadic, McSwieney, Lamontagne, and Triolet also collected a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay (2:02.28).

Clarkson's men had four swimmers win multiple events. Michael Schroeder was first in both of the backstroke races, winning the 100 back in 1:01.03 and the 200 back in 2:17.78. Andrew Sammons had the top times in the breaststroke races, winning the 100 in 1:09.50 and the 200 in 2:34.37. Likewise, Landon Colby was first in each of the butterfly events, taking the 100 fly in 1:01.11 and the 200 fly with a time of 2:231.02. Finally, Connor Tasselmyer won the sprint freestyle races, taking the 50 free in 23.94 and the 100 free in 54.98.

Other winners for Clarkson were Casey Everett (800 freestyle, 9:26.70), Carter Lancto (3-meter dive, 183.50 points), Owen White (200 individual medley, 2:21.92), and Colin Cordy (400 freestyle, 4:29.98). Schroeder, Daniel Russotti, Colby, and Tasselmyer combined for first in the 200 medley relay (1:50.97) and Gavin Stuhler, Tim Jordan, Andrew Sypko, and Tasselmyer finished with a time of 1:41.76 in the 200 freestyle relay.
