Hayden and Goetz Again at the Top for Clarkson at Whiteface

Lake Placid, NY – For the second straight day, Sam Hayden and Hannah Goetz led the Clarkson University Alpine Ski in the giant slalom FIS race at Whiteface Mountain, as the Golden Knights closed out the FIS portion of the season.

For the women, Elyse Donaghue did not finish her first run, leaving the scoring up to Hannah Goetz, Kylie Brino, and Kyla Butler. Goetz posted consistent runs to finish in 26th out of 82 participants with a time of 1:50.36. Brino was one of only 19 skiers to post a faster time in her second run compared to the first, and ended up in 47th place overall in 1:58.37, while Butler ended up in 53rd with a two-run time of 1:59.83.

On the men's side, Sam Hayden finished inside the top 20 for the second straight day, claiming the 19th spot in 1:41.53. Friday afternoon saw a few of the Knights unable to finish both runs, but Saturday all but one completed both circuits. Jack Donaldson came back from a spill on Friday to finish 34th out of the 84 skiers with a time of 1:L43.61, while Josh Jusiak was next for the Knights in 38th place in 1:44.50.

The rest of the field for the Knights were clustered fairly close together in terms of placement. Pedro Gonzalez took the 42nd spot in 1:45.24, Reed Martin placed 45th in 1:45.68, and Zach Zientko came in 46th in 1:46.18. Aristotle Ninos was just inside the top 50 in 49th in 1:47.38, while both Jackson Knobloch (52nd, 1:47.6) and Cole Rodman (53rd, 1:48.67) were just outside the top 50.
