Hayden and Goetz Lead Knights at Whiteface

Lake Placid, NY – Sam Hayden excelled on Friday afternoon for the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team, coming in eighth place among 83 skiers in the second FIS race of the season, this time in the giant slalom at Whiteface Mountain.

The Golden Knights each finished third among out of nine teams among MacConnell Division teams. Clarkson will compete in the giant slalom once again on Saturday morning.

Hayden was seventh after his first run in the giant slalom on Friday, finishing his opener in 50.39 seconds, just .32 off of the top time. He closed out the day with a two-run time of 1:44.39, placing him in the top 10 percent of skiers for the day. Josh Jusiak was the next Clarkson skier, taking 34th overall in 1:49.08, while both Zach Zientko and Jackson Knobloch were not far behind, coming in 36th and 37th place, respectively. Zientko closed with a time of 1:49.04 and Knobloch finished in 1:49.27. Aristotle Ninos also came in 42nd in 1:51.33, and Braden Kruk took 46th in 1:53.67.

On the women's side, Elyse Donaghue had the fastest time for the Golden Knights in the first run with a finish of 56.53 seconds, but it was Hannah Goetz that would have the quickest two-run time. Goetz finished 29th among 82 competitors with a time of 1:55.97 and Donaghue came in 32nd in 1:57.03. Clarkson closed out its team time with Kylie Brino coming in 48th in 2:03.75, but the Knights would have finished in the same spot, regardless, as Kyla Butler was next in 49th in 2:03.79.
