Andover, NH – Due to concerns about weather condition on Saturday, the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team packed in three races on Friday with the Golden Knights competing in a FIS event at Proctor Ski Area, hosted by Babson College.

Among MacConnell Division teams, the Golden Knights' men finished second out of eight teams in two slalom races while the Clarkson women placed fourth out of eight squads in their singular race. The women hope to get a second race in on Saturday, hopefully waiting out the rain with a projected 12:00 noon start.

In the first men's slalom race of the day, Sam Hayden finished in 27th place among 116 Division I and Division III skiers in the FIS race (second among MacConnell Division skiers), closing out his first run in 45.61 seconds and the second trip down the hill at 47.91 for a combined 1:33.52. Next for the Knights was freshman Jackson Knobloch, who was in the top half of the field in 57th place thanks to a two-run time of 1:40.92. Jack Donaldson was less than two-tenths of a second slower than Knobloch, which put him in 60th in 1:43.09. Four more skiers finished in the 60s for the Knights, with Zach Zientko coming in 62nd (1:43.70), Reed Martin taking 63rd (1:43.72), Aristotle Ninos placing 64th (1:44.44), and Braden Kruk finishing 69th (1:49.19).

Clarkson's women had two skiers who did not finish their runs, so the remaining three combined for Clarkson's team score. Hannah Goetz led the way for the Knights by taking 64th out of 117 skiers (third among MacConnell Division performers) with a two-run time of 1:47.78. Kylie Brino then took 73rd in 1:55.06 and Kyla Butler came in 81st in 2:01.69 to round out Clarkson's team time.

In Clarkson's second slalom race of the day beginning in the late afternoon, Sam Hayden again shined, finishing 24th out of 116 skiers (once again, taking second among MacConnell Division skiers) with a two-run time of 1:33.60. Pedro Gonzalez had two solid runs down the hill to place 44th in the field with a time of 1:40.58, and Clarkson closed out its team time thanks to Aristotle Ninos, who placed 48th in 1:43.24. Both Zach Zientko and Reed Martin weren't far behind in the team scoring for Clarkson. Zientko came in 50th in 1:43.95 and Martin was 51st in 1:44.10.
