Canton, NY – For the second straight day, a freshman led the Clarkson University Golf team as first-year collegian Ryan Makowski shot one-over par to card a 73 on Sunday in the St. Lawrence Invitational at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course.

The Golden Knights' 'A' team scored a collective 303, shaving 12 strokes off their day one score, to finish with 618, good enough for third in the nine-team field. Clarkson's 'B' squad was unable to keep the pace of the first day, scoring 325 on Sunday to finish at 639, which was still the fourth-best score in the tournament. St. John Fisher won with a tally of 591 with the St. Lawrence 'A' team finishing second at 607. Following Clarkson's two teams in third and fourth were Oswego State (642), St. Lawrence 'B' (645), St. Lawrence 'C' (654), SUNY Canton (655), and Paul Smiths (729).

Makowski's 73 was three off the Sunday pace set by a golfer from St. John Fisher, but tied for second for day two. His score of 151 over 36 holes tied for fourth among the 54 golfers in the field. The freshman's score was aided by two chip shots, as he holed out from off the green on the first and fourth holes.

Junior Andrew Palmatier also removed five strokes from his day one score to finish with a 153 (79-74) and tie for seventh overall. Eric Spoth was four strokes better on Sunday as well, closing out with a score of 154 (79-75) to tie for 11th. Zander Poole scored an 81 to close out the 'A' team's scoring, while Aaron Walsh's 84 was dropped from Clarkson's top team. Poole finished in a tie for 34th (166) while Walsh was in a tie for 25th (163).

The 'B' team saw two of its golfers score sub-80, as Brant Bomberger shot 77 to finish with a 159 over two days to tie for 20th. Jace Dutch repeated his performance from Saturday with another 78 for a two-day score of 156, placing him alone in 17th. Eric Weisiger ended up with a 159, tying with Bomberger in the field, Daniel Wilson shot 165 over two days to put him in a tie for 29th and Joe Tiderencel ended up with 173 for 43rd.

Dylan Farr played consistently as an individual, shooting 82 each day to finish 164 and place himself in the middle of the pack, tied for 27th. Zachary Bruno ended up with a 168 to tie for 39th, and Luke Baringer scored 179 to tie for 48th.
