Makowski and Walsh Tie for Seventh at Kangaroos Invitational

Canton, NY - Freshman Ryan Makowski and sophomore Aaron Walsh each shot 78 with a pair of birdies as the Clarkson Univeristy Golf team finished in second out of 10 teams in the single day SUNY Canton Kangaroos Invitational, held Wednesday at the par-72 Partridge Run Country Club.

The Golden Knights's 'A' squad was seven strokes off the pace with a score of 316, while Clarkson's 'B' team finished with a score of 323, placing fourth among the 10 teams. Clarkson will be in Vermont this weekend at the Castleton Invitational.

Makowski posted 11 pars and also had birds on the seventh and 11th holes, going one-under on the par-five hole on the front and one-under on the par-four on the back nine. Walsh did the same, but on different holes, picking up a birdie on the par-four fifth hole and another on the par-five 16th hole. Both Makowski and Walsh notched 78s to tie for seventh in the field of 57 golfers. 

Freshman Jace Dutch and Eric Spoth tied for 15th to round out Clarkson's 'A' scoring, but did so in different ways. Dutch had 11 pars and went without a birdie in the round to score an 80, while Spoth had birdies on three straight holes on the back nine for his 80. Andrew Palmatier also had a birdie on the second hole and 10 pars, shooting 81 to tie for 19th in the field. 

Both Brant Bomberger and Daniel Wilson scored 79 to lead Clarkson's second team, tying for 10th in the field. Bomberger had a single birdie on the ninth hole and then added nine pars, while Wilson also picked up nine pars but had a pair of birds, going one-under on the second and 13th holes. Luke Weisiger recorded 10 pars to score an 82 and tie for 25th in the field, and Zander Poole had a birdie on the 13th hole while scoring an 83, which was tied for 30th. Zachary Bruno's score of 85 was dropped from the second team's score, as he shot an 85, placing him 35th, with a birdie on number-two.

Playing as individuals, Joe Tederencel shot an 84 with a birdie on 17 to tie for 33rd, and Luke Baringer had a birdie on the fifth hole while scoring an 86, tying for 36th.
