The Clarkson University Athletic Department has announced that former Golden Knights' standout Tyler Cline will serve has head coach for the Clarkson Golf team in 2023-24.
Cline, who graduated from Clarkson back in 2015, has played as both a professional and amateur for the past eight years, turning pro in January of 2018 and returning to the amateur ranks in May 2022. He won the Minor League Tour's Parkland Golf Club Classic in early 2018 and has numerous top 10 finishes on the Minor League Golf Tour.
As a student-athlete from 2011-2015, Cline produced a career scoring average of 76.35 strokes per 18 holes over the course of 60 competitive rounds, though that figure dropped significantly in his final two years with the Golden Knights. Over 35 rounds as a junior and senior, he averaged 74.91 strokes per 18, including second-place finishes at the Liberty League Championship Qualifiers in fall 2013 and the Liberty League Championships in spring 2015. In the former of those two events, Cline shot 139, including a six-under 66 on day two of the Liberty League Qualifier.
Cline was named a PING Division III All-American Honorable Mention in 2013-14 and was PING All-Region in both 2013-14 and 2014-15. He also earned Liberty League All-Star honors on three occasions. Â Â
