Clarkson Hockey honors award winners at Knight Club Banquet

The Knight Club, Clarkson Hockey's Booster Club since 1982, held their annual awards banquet to honor the outgoing graduates and annual award winners.  

The award winners from the evening were:

FRAN NERAGIN AWARD
The Fran Neragin Award honors the memory of the local businessperson and loyal Clarkson hockey booster who passed away in 1984. Presented annually to a Golden Knight who displays unselfish play and sportsmanship both on and off the ice.  For the 3rd straight year, Anthony Callin was named the Neragin Award Winner.

MIKE MORRISON AWARDMorrison Award
The Mike Morrison Award honors the memory of the former Golden Knight who died in a work accident on July 27, 1989, just months after his graduation. A rugged four-year veteran at forward, Morrison emerged from being a freshman walk-on candidate to become Clarkson's team captain in his senior year. Presented annually to a player who displays great teamwork, hustle, and dedication.  This season, Ryan Richardson was named the Morrison Award winner.  Richardson played in all 37 games this season, with 5 goals and 9 assists. 
Richmond Award

RICHMOND MOST IMPROVED AWARD
The Richmond Award is named in honor of loyal Clarkson Hockey followers Connie and Ernie Richmond. Presented to a player who has shown great improvement in his playing ability.  The Richmond award was given to Caden Lewandowski.  Caden played in 23 games this season earning a +7 and 1 assist. 

Defensive


BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER AWARD
Presented to Clarkson's best defensive player at any position.  Captain Dustyn McFaul was named the Dest Defensive Player of the Year.  The hard hitting Dman, played in 30 games, with 9 assists and a +12 rating.


Ironman
IRONMAN AWARD
Presented to the team member who most demonstrated the will and determination to overcome his injuries and contribute to the team.  Kaelan Taylor was selected for the Ironman award, he skated through many injuries to see action in 29 games with 1 goal and 1 assist. 


 
ROY

ROOKIE of the YEAR AWARD
Presented to Clarkson's top rookie performer.  Ryan Taylor was named ROY based on his 34 games and 8 goals and 10 assists.





Leading scorer
Leading Scorer Award
Presented to the player that lead the team in total points, which was Ayrton Martino this season.  In 37 games he scored 9 goals and set up 29 more for 38 points.

Pilon

PAUL J. PILON SCHOLAR-ATHLETE of the YEAR AWARD
Paul J. Pilon was an outstanding hockey player on the 1936 thru '38 Clarkson Hockey Teams.  In Nov. of 1938, Paul was involved in a car accident that took his life.  The award was established in his memory and presented to the hockey program's top scholar athlete.  Anthony Romano was named the Pilon Award winner.  Romano had 9 goals and 6 assists in 19 games this season.


THE BILL HARRISON (MVP) AWARD
The Bill Harrison, Clarkson Most Valuable Player Award, is named in honor of the successful Clarkson coach of the late 1940s and 1950s. Presented to the player who made the biggest impact on the Golden Knights' success this season.  Mathieu Gosselin was named the Harrison Award winner based on his 33 points (14 goals and 19 assists) and top faceoff winning percentage.  Gosselin was a 3rd team All ECAC and a finalist for ECAC Defensive Forward of the Year.
