Goetz Takes Third Podium of 2023 to Lead Clarkson at St. Anselm Invite

Henniker, NH – Hannah Goetz and Sam Hayden each finished in the top 10 to headline the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team's first-day results at the St. Anselm Invitational, held at Pats Peak.

The Golden Knights' men and women both placed third in the field of nine teams. Clarkson and the rest of the MacConnell Division will close out the regular season tomorrow with a second slalom event at Pats Peak.

Hannah Goetz was on the podium for the third time this season, taking third among 59 skiers in the slalom with a time of 1:42.02. Shannon Quiles was next for the Knights, taking 17th in 1:52.10 and Kylie Brino came in 20th with a time of 1:53.04 to close out Clarkson's team time, putting the squad in third place. Kyla Butler was a few spots further down in 25th in 1:56.99 and Abigail Jacunski took 31st in 2:08.09. Both Elyse Donaghue and Isabella Pelkey completed their first runs, but did not finish the second trips down the hill.

Clarkson saw its usual depth on the men's side, with three skiers in the top 20 and seven in the top 30 out of the field of 74 participants. Sam Hayden had the top time for the Knights, coming in eighth place in the slalom with a time of 1:32.55. Josh Jusiak was about three seconds behind in 1:35.37 to take 15th and Evan Wetzel came in 19th with a time of 1:37.41 to round out Clarkson's time. Four skiers were in the next 12 spots for the Knights, including Zach Zientko (23rd, 1:38.21), Yuto Takai (24th, 1:38.57), Dylan West (26th, 1:39.13), and Evan Phelps (30th, 1:43.78).
