Lamontagne Wins Pair of Events in Clarkson-Skidmore Dual Meet

Potsdam, NY – Despite a number of runner-up finishes and a handful of wins in individual events, the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving team came up short during its dual meet against Skidmore College on Saturday afternoon at Fuller Pool.

The Golden Knights' men fell 172-125, while the women were on the short end 183-105. Clarkson will be back in action at Fuller Pool once again next Saturday, when the team hosts Oswego State.

Clarkson's men started off with a 200 medley relay win thanks to Michael Schroeder, Daniel Russotti, Landon Colby, and Connor Tasselmyer, combining for a time of 1:51.44. Although the men had a number of close finishes, only Tasselmyer and Carter Lancto came away with individual wins for the men. Tasselmyer won the 50-meter freestyle in 23.94 seconds, while Lancto earned first-place points in the 3-meter dive, scoring 167.20.

Although the men were closer than the women in the team scores, the women had more individual victories. Sophomore Ava Lamontagne was Clarkson's lone multiple-event winner, taking first in both the 200 freestyle (2:19.92) and 100 freestyle (1:05.96). Gabriela McSwieney ended up in first in the longest race of the day, the 800 freestyle, closing out that event in 9:52.24. Bella Triolet also won the 200 backstroke (2:37.56) and Maria Nenadic touched the pad first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:42.59.
