Knights Finish as Runner-Up at Oswego Fall Golf Invitational

Oswego, NY – Taking five strokes off from the previous day, the Clarkson University Golf team earned a second-place finish out of 12 teams at the Oswego Fall Golf Invitational, held this weekend at the par-71 Oswego Country Club.

The Golden Knights scored 315 on Saturday and then 310 on Sunday to finish the two-day event with a total of 625 strokes, trailing only St. Lawrence (597), but ahead of SUNY Delhi (627), Hobart (628), Utica (635), Oswego State 'A' (644), SUNY Canton (645), Elmira (646), Nazareth (665), Russell Sage (668), Oswego State 'B' (669), and SUNY ESF (813).

For the second straight day, freshman Ryan Makowski was the team's top scorer, shooting a 76 for a two-day total of 150. That placed him in a tie for fourth in the tournament of 64 golfers, just three strokes off the pace of the medalist. Junior Daniel Wilson matched Makowski's 76, and ended the tournament with a two-day score of 161, tying him for 25th overall. Wilson's score for the tournament was also produced by Andrew Palmatier (80-81) and Aaron Walsh (84-77), as those three players combined with Makowski for the second day score of 310. Zander Poole, who shot 77 on Saturday, ended up with a score of 167, putting him in 37th place in the tournament, but his round for Sunday was dropped from the team scoring.
