The Golden Knights gained a valuable home ECAC win on Saturday as they edged Brown 2-1 behind the 16 save effort of
Holly Gruber in her first start as a Golden Knight.
Clarkson would fall behind early when Brown's Maddie Morgan would score on a scramble in front at 3:28 of the first period.Â
Nicole Gosling would even the game at 9:01 of the first period with a power play goal from
Stephanie Markowski and
Gabrielle David.
In the 2nd period, Dacrie Lappan would score what would prove to be the eventual game winning goal at 13:18. The goal was a result of a turn over below the goal line when David was able to poke the puck free to
Anne Cherkowski who centered it to Lappan.
Gruber would make a big save on a penalty shot awarded at 7:53 of the 2nd period. After a pile up in front of the Clarkson net, a video review determined that the puck was played with a hand pass in the crease, which is a penalty and a penalty shot was awarded. Anna Hurd was the shooter for Brown, but she was not able to stuff her shot on the short side.
Clarkson was 1 for 4 on the power play today, and was able to kill off all 5 chances including a lengthy 5 on 3 for Brown.
