No longer a newcomer to the USA Skeleton team, Austin Florian continues to excel in his adopted discipline. The former Clarkson University Alpine Skiing standout is once again shining on the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup circuit and appears to be peaking at the right time as he enters the IBSF World Championships this weekend in Switzerland.

Florian, now 28 years old and close to seven years removed from graduation at Clarkson University, has been competing in the IBSF World Cup and producing solid results since December. He was sixth at the Push World Championships in early December, sixth in the World Cup race in mid-December, and his first two World Cup results in 2023 were ninth and 11th, respectively. However, this past weekend at the BMW IBSF World Cup in Altenberg, Germany, Florian just missed out on the podium by taking fourth with a time of 1:54.85, just seven-tenths of a second off the pace. His splits in his first run saw him with the second fastest times on several occasions, and he was third after the opening run before taking fifth in the second run.
