The Clarkson University Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Paul Rechberger as the new assistant coach for the Golden Knights' Alpine Skiing team for 2021-22.
A graduate of Castleton University in May 2021 with a degree in Business Administration/Management, Rechberger was a standout on the slopes and in the classroom for the Spartans, twice earning CoSIDA Academic All-American At-Large honors and being named a USCSA Scholar All-American on three occasions. Rechberger was a five-time USCSA All-American across the slalom and giant slalom disciplines in three years, winning the 2018 USCSA National Championship in the slalom in 2018 as well as the overall title. He also took third at the 2019 USCSA Nationals in the slalom and sixth in the 2020 USCSA Nationals in the same event. He also picked up ESCS MacConnell Division Skier and Rookie of the Year honors back in 2018.
Rechberger was Castleton's Senior Class President in 2021, and the recipient of the Distinguished Senior of the Year Award (first out of 400 graduating seniors) thanks to being named to the President's List in all eight semesters.Â
Originally from Wilhering, Austria, Rechberger also served as a military instructor in the Austrian Armed Forces and finished in the top 10% of his Sergeant class.Â
