Looking to get back on the winning track, the Clarkson University Baseball team will head back to Central New York this weekend, as the Golden Knights will meet up against Cazenovia College at a neutral site in Cortland, NY for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

The Series: The Golden Knights haven't played the Wildcats since the team took back-to-back trips to Cazenovia in 2004-2005. Clarkson went 3-1 in those games, outscoring Cazenovia 63-9 in the four games, including three double-digit victories as well as a one-run loss.

Key Stats for Clarkson (1-5): After a slow start against St. John Fisher, Clarkson's pitching staff has tightened up in the last three contests. The Golden Knights have allowed just 10 walks with 30 strikeouts in its first 31 innings, a dramatic reduction in free passes (25 walks in first 25 innings). Senior Griffin Tubbs was tough in his last outing, swinging his numbers to a 2.70 earned run average with 12 strikeouts in 13.1 innings thus far. Clarkson's offense has been quiet in four of its six games so far with just eight extra-base hits, including a pair of home runs.

Key Stats for Cazenovia (3-7): The Wildcats' offense has not been particularly productive as yet either, hitting .169/.285/.221 with 10 extra-base hits in 10 games. Cesar Tapia has the team's lone home run and has the highest OPS at .889, but is hitting only .214. Cazenovia's top two pitchers have performed well with Dawson Eckrich and Joe DeGroot combining for 27 innings so far. Eckrich has allowed just a .158 opponent's batting average in 11.1 innings, while DeGroot has struck out 19 hitters in 16.2 innings of work.
