Knights Race Past Skidmore, 161.5-128.5

Saratoga Springs, NY – Junior Nicholas Miller and freshman Guillermo Barrios each won a pair of events as the Clarkson University Men's Swimming & Diving program downed Skidmore College 161.5-128.5 on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights' women will head back down to Skidmore on Sunday as those two teams will complete the dual meet series.

Miller won two of the shorter freestyle races, taking first in the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 53.29 seconds and then later adding a victory in the 100 freestyle in 49.62 seconds. Barrios added to the Clarkson score by winning a pair of specialty races, gaining a first-place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:13.94) and then winning the 200 individual medley (2:09.81).

While Miller and Barrios were the only multi-event winners, Clarkson had plenty of other victorious individuals on Saturday. Jack Kelly touched the pad first in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.54) and Collin Urmaza won the 200 breaststroke (2:24.59). Solomon Rosner paced the heat in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.78 seconds and Alex Estano beat the field in the 100 butterfly in 56.56. Schuyler Thomas also shared first-place points in the 1-meter dive, scoring 147.30 points.

Clarkson opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay (1:43.90) thanks to the foursome of Barrios, Kelly, Estano, and Rosner. Later in the day, Miller, Collin Slupe, Finn Halstead and Rosner gained first-place points in the 200 freestyle (1:31.47), though the exhibition group of Kelly, Cary Lee, Bradley Beall and Estano had the best time (1:29.50).
