The Series: The Golden Knights have never beaten Nazareth in eight tries, most of which have occurred on neutral fields. Nazareth won three straight in recent years, beating Clarkson from 2015-2017.

Key Stats for Clarkson (0-2): It has only been two games, but the Golden Knights have shown an offense with various components as five different players have scored at least four points. Graduate student Conor Bartlett has six points on four goals and two assists while sophomore Sebastian Geiger (5-0-5) and Jay Considine (2-3-5) trail Bartlett in the scoring department by a single point. Pierce Currie (4-0-4) and Billy Bergan (3-1-4) have also contributed, though each did the lion's share of work in one of the two games. Connor Borchardt leads the team defensively with five groundballs and five caused turnovers and Max Hoffer has also caused three turnovers in the early going.

Key Stats for Nazareth (0-1): The Golden Flyers started off with a 5-2 record in 2020, but the 2021 season began with a 23-8 loss to second-ranked RIT on Wednesday. Senior Jeremy Jacob led Nazareth in scoring a year ago with 24 points, scoring 17 times and adding seven assists. Jacob's lone assist on Wednesday put him within three points of 100 for his career (62-35-97). Most of the Golden Flyers' scoring against RIT came from untested collegians with freshman Quinn McKerher, Clifford Pollard, and Jack McOsker each scoring two goals; the trio had previously combined for two goals at the college level, both by Pollard. Eric Almquist posted a .513 save percentage and an 11.50 goals against average a year ago in the Nazareth crease.
