Unless another doubleheader gets made up in the coming weeks, the Clarkson University Softball team will close out the non-league portion of its schedule on Tuesday when the Golden Knights play host to Alfred University at Scott Field.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: The two teams have met in doubleheaders in each of the last two years with Alfred winning three of the four contests. This will be the first time that the Saxons play the Knights on the road.

Key Stats for Clarkson (19-11): With three home runs in six games last week, Clarkson now has 14 round trippers this year, just three shy of the team's single-season mark of 17 established in 2017. Senior Liz Caggiano belted her fourth of the year on Thursday to tie Michele Winn for the team lead. Both players rank in the top five in the conference in total bases due to their power and each ranks in the top five in Liberty League in runs batted in, with Caggiano topping the circuit with 30. Freshman Olivia Zoeller leads the Knights' pitching staff with 84.1 innings, third in the Liberty League, and she currently is at the top of the conference in strikeouts with 80. Clarkson has been particularly stingy in giving up free bases, walking just 30 in over 200 innings.

Key Stats for Alfred (16-14): Despite a modest team batting average, the Saxons are still above .500 thanks to the pitching prowess of Jessica Wilcox. The junior has thrown more than half of Alfred's inning this year, recording six shutouts with an earned run average of 2.16 and WHIP of 1.16. She also has 104 strikeouts in 113.2 innings of work. Jillian Murray is the only regular hitting above .315 for Alfred, batting .371/.377/.532 with a team-best 14 runs batted in. Alyssa Guitron is hitting .310/.398/.417 and has a team-high of 15 runs scored. Ashley Lugo is reaching base at a clip of just .291, but makes the most of her chances, with 14 steals in 15 tries.
