CU Men's Lacrosse Preview - vs. Vassar (4/13)

Six senior members of the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team will be honored on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Knights look to clinch a playoff spot in the Liberty League playoffs when they take on Vassar College at Hantz Turf Field.

The Series: The Golden Knights hold an overwhelming 16-2 lead in the all-time series against the Brewers, but Vassar has won two of the last three contests, taking 10-9 wins in both 2016 and 2017. Last year the Knights gained a 9-6 victory.

Key Stats for Clarkson (7-5, 2-3 Liberty League): Despite missing three games, junior Pierce Currie is tied for the team lead in goals this year with 25, averaging 2.78 goals per game, the second-best figures in the Liberty League. Classmate Conor Bartlett has a team-best 42 points overall (25-17-42) and has enjoyed success against the Brewers in the past, recording three goals in last year's contest. Fellow junior Evan Burgett also produced good numbers against Vassar last year, ripping a career-high nine shots for four points on two goals and two assists. Burgett, who has also missed time this year, ranks third in both points (26) and goals (19) for the Knights.

Key Stats for Vassar (3-8, 1-4 Liberty League): Matthew Lowery wins 67.7% of his draws on faceoffs (132-for-195) and wins plenty outright with a league-best 9.67 groundballs per game (87 total). His faceoff percentage dips slightly when just counting league games (62.8% win rate) but he has gathered up 55 groundballs (11.00 per game). Michael Mullen leads the team in scoring with 22 goals and 27 total points while Connor Deehan is second (7-16-23). Deehan is the team leader when it comes to scoring in just conference games thanks to three goals and eight assists for 11 tallies. Spencer Duryee (13), Logan Hyde (12) and Tomas Meade (10) also have reached double figures in goals scored this season.
