11/20/2019 11:26:00 AM

Clarkson will look to continue its momentum as it takes the nation's longest current unbeaten streak on the road, traveling to the Southern regions of ECAC Hockey this weekend. The Golden Knights, guided by 12th-year Head Coach Matt Desrosiers and assistants Britni Smith and Tony Maci, will face a stern test on Friday with a 6:00 p.m. faceoff at 8th-ranked Princeton at Hobey Baker Rink in New Jersey. On Saturday, the Green and Gold play a 3:00 p.m. game against Quinnipiac at Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena in Hamden, CT.

Both games can be viewed live streamed on ESPN+ (US) and StretchInternet (international).

The Golden Knights, who have gone 8-0-3 since mid-October, stand at 10-1-3 overall and are ranked 5th in the national polls. Clarkson is tied for fourth place in the ECAC Hockey standings with a 3-0-1 mark. The Green and Gold are coming off a weekend sweep in non-league play against Mercyhurst at Cheel Arena, winning 4-1 and 2-1 over the Lakers.

• With five players recording double digits points Clarkson's offense is averaging 3.43 goals per game (10th in the NCAA).
• Elizabeth Giguere, 10th in the nation in points per game, leads the way for the Knights with 14 goals and 11 assists for 25 points in 14 games. The junior right wing powered the Clarkson offense to the sweep of Mercyhurst, accounting for half of the Knights' six goals. She scored her nation-leading third shorthanded goal of the season for the first of her two goals in Friday's 4-1 win.  She has a current seven-game goal scoring streak (10) and a nine-game point streak (11-8-19). Giguere has 169 career points (67-102) through 95 games.
• Freshman standout, left wing Gabrielle David has tallied 21 points and 15 assists to start her collegiate career (2nd in the country among rookies) and has a team-high +16 plus/minus rating, which is tied for the best nationally among freshmen.
• Defensively, the Green and Gold are ranked 11th in the NCAA, allowing 1.79 goals per game. Clarkson has allowed just nine goals over the last eight games.
• Sophomore Marie-Pier Coulombe ranks among the nation's best goaltenders with a 1.27 GAA (5th) and a .940 save percentage (6th) en route to an 8-1-2 record, the most wins by any league goaltender. She made 42 saves on 44 shots (.955 sv%) in the weekend series vs. Mercyhurst.
• Senor transfer Kayla Friesen extended her current point streak to three games with four points (2-2)over the weekend. She has 12 points (6-6) through nine games with the Knights.
• Senior center Michaela Pejzlova has 16 points (5-11). Fifth on the Knights' all-time scoring charts, Pejzlova has amassed 158 points (61-97) in 132 games and is just three assists shy of 100.
• Clarkson is 5-0-2 in Friday night games.
• The Knights are 8-0-0 when leading through two periods.
• Clarkson is undefeated in one-goal games, going 5-0-3.
• On the road, Clarkson is 5-1-1 with a 26-19 edge in goals.

Series Princeton: Clarkson enters the weekend with a 19-12-2 record against Princeton all-time. Early in the series between the two, Princeton dominated games in New Jersey. The Golden Knights went 0-3-1 against the Tigers in the first four road matchups, but Clarkson has gone 9-3 at Hobey Baker Rink ever since. The last Clarkson loss came on the road during the 2017-18 season. After a 4-0 home win over Princeton earlier in the year, the Green and Gold took a 10-game unbeaten streak over the Tigers into New Jersey. Clarkson was shutout for the first and only time of the season in a 2-0 loss. The Golden Knights got back to their winning ways last season taking down the top-10 ranked Tigers 3-1 on the road and 5-2 at Cheel Arena just 20 days later. Michaela Pejzlova has been extremely effective in her career against Princeton scoring four goals, including two last season, and two assists for six points in six games. Elizabeth Giguere also has six points on one goal and five assists. Giguere had one goal and four assists against Princeton in last year's games. None of Clarkson's goaltenders have faced Princeton in their careers.

Series Quinnipiac: The Golden Knights are 25-12-5 against the Bobcats of Quinnipiac and are currently riding a five-game unbeaten streak (4-0-1). Clarkson has not lost in Hamden against Quinnipiac since the 2015-16 season where Clarkson lost in the ECAC Championship 1-0. However, the Golden Knights are 12-3-2 all-time on the road against the Bobcats. Clarkson and Quinnipiac faced off four times last season with the Green and Gold skating to a 3-0-1 record. The Golden Knights rode a Loren Gabel hat trick to a 3-2 win on the road last year before fighting to a 1-1 tie on senior night. Quinnipiac took the six hour drive home only to find out they would be coming back to play Clarkson in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal at Cheel Arena. The Knights scored a goal in each period in game one to down the Bobcats 3-0. Quinnipiac nearly stole game two, but was forced to play an overtime session after a Gabel goal with one second remaining in the game. Clarkson finished off the best-of-three series with Giguere's overtime game-winner at the 11:45 mark. Giguere and Pejzlova were all over the stat sheet against the Bobcats last year. Giguere scored two goals and had seven assists while Pejzlova tallied five assists. Giguere has 11 points (3-8) in six games against Quinnipiac while Pejzlova has seven points (1-6) in seven games. None of Clarkson's goaltenders have played against the Bobcats.

Scouting Princeton: Princeton enters the weekend with a 7-2-0 record overall and is 5-2-0 in ECAC play, good enough for a tie in second place at 10 points. The Tigers are 4-1 at home winning against Syracuse twice and defeating Quinnipiac (4-2) and Dartmouth (2-1) in conference action. This will be Princeton's second game this season against a top-10 ranked foe. The Tigers took on #3 Cornell at Lynah Rink falling 3-1 in the early days of November. Princeton's offense is very good, but is paced by sophomore forward Sarah Fillier who tallied 57 points her freshman year and led the country in points per game (1.97) in 29 games. The Tiger's dependence on Fillier is evident when she is not in the lineup. With Fillier away with Hockey Canada On November 8th and 9th, Princeton fell 6-2 to Harvard and barely squeaked past the 1-3-1 Dartmouth Big Green 2-1 thanks to a third period tally from Maggie Connors. Carly Bullock leads the team in scoring with 14 points on a team high eight goals and six assists. Sarah Fillier, who would most likely be leading the team in scoring had she not spent a weekend with Hockey Canada, has 13 points on four goals and a team-leading nine assists. Fillier and Bullock are tied atop the ECAC with 10 points in conference games. Princeton has split time in net between senior Steph Neatby and Rachel McQuigge who have each started four games. Neatby owns a 3-1-0 record with one shutout, a .920 save percentage and a 1.94 goals against average. McQuigge, sister of Clarkson freshman forward Brooke McQuigge, is also 3-1-0 and has a 1.50 goals against average and a .932 save percentage. McQuigge got the starting nod for both games against the Golden Knights last year, losing both matchups. Sophomore Cassie Reale who is a perfect 5-0-0 in her career, started against Union this past weekend making eight saves in the 7-2 win.

Scouting Quinnipiac: Quinnipiac is just under .500 for the year at 5-6-2 overall. However, the Bobcats have gotten off to a horrible start in the ECAC thus far with a 1-5-1 record and are tied for eighth place with three points. Quinnipiac started the season strong going 4-1-1 against the likes of Providence, Maine, and Sacred Heart. The Bobcats then went on a 0-4-1 skid against #5/#6 Princeton (2-4), #3 Cornell (0-1), Colgate (2-4), Dartmouth (1-1), and Harvard (2-3 ot). Quinnipiac got back in the win column this past weekend against last place RPI by the score of 4-0. They would follow up the win with a 4-2 loss at Union. The Bobcats, who lost their top three scorers to graduation last year, are led offensively by sophomore Lexie Adzija who has three goals and seven assists for 10 points, just eight points away from her freshman year total. Senior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout leads the team in scoring with five goals on the year. Abbie Ives is 3-5-2 in 10 starts with a .910 save percentage and a 1.88 goals against average. Freshman goaltender Logan Angers, who played both games against Sacred Heart and versus Union is 2-1-0 with two shutouts in three starts and has a .938 save percentage and a 1.01 goals against average.
