CU Men's Lacrosse Preview - at SUNY Potsdam (3/27)

Almost honorary members of the SUNYAC at this point, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team will take on its fifth opponent from that seven-team league on Tuesday when it travels a few miles to take on crosstown rival SUNY Potsdam.

The Series: Since 1976, the Golden Knights have dominated the all-time matchup, winning 34 of the 41 meetings. Clarkson is 9-1 in the last 10 games, but that loss came recently, an 11-9 defeat in 2016. The Green and Gold won 14-10 in last season's meeting.

Key Stats for Clarkson (3-3): Of the 14 goals that Clarkson scored against the Bears last year, only two of those goals are still on the team in 2018, as junior Shane Kilday scored twice but the balance were scored by players that graduated last May. The key matchup from last year's game came on faceoffs, with sophomore Ryan Gabriel winning 17 of 27 tries (63.0%). Key Stats for SUNY Potsdam (2-3): Since taking over as the team's starting goalkeeper, junior Zach Sheridan has tallied impressive numbers with a 6.24 goals against average, a .718 save percentage and 51 saves. Josh Huiatt leads the team in scoring (12 points) and caused turnovers (9) as well as ranking second in groundballs (21). Eric Soderquist is second with 11 points and Nick Slate is tied for the team lead with eight goals.
