Three CU Men's Lax Players Earn Conference All-Star Honors

Thanks to a second straight outstanding season, junior Ryan St. Croix led a group of three Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse players on the Liberty League All-Star teams when the conference announced the award winners on Tuesday morning.

St. Croix was joined by his classmate Ryan DaRin and senior Keith Mierzwa on the Liberty League All-Star slate in 2016.

St. Croix, a junior midfielder, was chosen as a Liberty League First-Team All-Star for the second straight season and earned all-star honors for the third time in his collegiate career. Certainly the focal point of Clarkson's offense and therefore opponents' defenses, St. Croix nevertheless scored 39 points on 31 goals and eight assists, tying for eighth in the conference in goals per game with 2.07 per contest. Despite the attention from the opposition, St. Croix led the conference in shots per game, taking nearly nine per contest. Midway through the season, St. Croix joined a long list of players at Clarkson with 100 career points, and he became only the 13th player in program history to reach 80 goals.

DaRin, a junior attacker, earned his first Liberty League All-Star nod when he gained Second-Team notice. DaRin also tied for eighth in the conference in goals per game with 2.07, matching St. Croix's total of 31 scores, but he also recorded 13 assists to finish with a team-high 44 points. DaRin ranked eighth in the conference in shots per game at 5.93. With 81 career points on 57 goals and 24 assists, DaRin will look to join St. Croix and 25 others as members of Clarkson's 100-point club next season.

Mierzwa, a senior for Clarkson's defense, was chosen as a Liberty League All-Star Honorable Mention for the second straight season. Mierzwa anchored a depleted Clarkson defense and led the squad with 23 caused turnovers despite missing two games, ranking fourth in the conference (1.77 ctpg) in that category. He also produced 30 groundballs in 13 games.
