CU Men's Lacrosse Preview - vs. Rensselaer (4/30)

On Saturday the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team will celebrate its senior as the Golden Knights close out the regular season with their final Liberty League contest of the year against Rensselaer at Hantz Turf Field.

The Golden Knights enter the game with a record of 4-10 overall and are 2-4 in the Liberty League, while Rensselaer is currently ranked 16th in the nation with a mark of 11-3 and 4-2.

Juniors Ryan DaRin and Ryan St. Croix are one-two on the team in scoring, having combined for 57 goals and 21 assists for 78 points. DaRin ranks in the top in the conference in both goals per game (2.00) and points (2.93), while St. Croix is eighth in goals per game (2.07 gpg). Senior J.R. Campbell will look to tack on a few more points for his career total on Senior Day, as he has accumulated 26 points on 15 goals and 11 assists. Sophomore Sam Groves mirrors Campbell's numbers, and Scott Dosser has produced 23 points on 19 goals and four assists. Junior Marc Simmons leads the team with 42 groundballs and Nicholas Lenta ranks second with 36 while serving as the team's key faceoff specialist with a .521 winning percentage. Junior Nick Strandholm has posted a .515 save percentage and 11.49 goals against average this season.

Rensselaer has an impressive defense, led by goalkeeper David Gibbs. With a 7.89 goals against average and .550 save percentage, Gibbs has helped the Engineers allow only 100 goals in 14 games. John Phillips has 44 groundballs and 27 caused turnovers and Blake Frasca 36 groundballs and 17 caused turnovers. Oliver Kaija starts the offense with a .510 faceoff rate and 39 groundballs.

The Engineers' offense is led by Breanainn McNeally leads the conference with 3.29 goals per game and has scored 54 points on 46 goals and eight assists. Patrick Finn is second in the conference in assists per game with 1.71, having posted 32 points on eight goals and 24 assists, just behind Matt Hall's 38 points (27-11). Matthew Gillman (15-11-26) and JT Kelly (12-12-24) also contributed heavily on the Rensselaer offense.
