Knights Split with Potsdam in Final Home Dual Meet

Potsdam, NY - With a pair of first place finishes from junior Brendan Hofler (Glen Gardner, NJ) and freshman Sean Parnett (Clifton Park, NY) the Clarkson University Men's Swim team won its second dual meet in three days against Potsdam State, downing the Bears 142-89, while the women's team fell 127-73 in action in the meter lanes at Fuller Pool.

The Golden Knights close out the dual meet stretch of the season tomorrow afternoon when they travel to face Utica College. After that, the Knights will wait a few weeks before they close out the season at the New York State meet in Syracuse.

Parnett was the first swimmer to claim two individual titles at the meet for Clarkson, taking the 800m freestyle in 9:23.05 and the 200m butterfly in 2:18.78, while Hofler followed up with the top times in both the 400m individual medley (5:00.03) and the 400m freestyle (4:27.53).

Also winning individual events for Clarkson were Mike Rowe (Glenville, NY), who won the 200m freestyle in 2:03.90, freshman Paul Telesca (Liverpool, NY), who touched the pad first in the 100m freestyle in 56.36, Robert Stevens (Lakewood, NY), who won the 200m backstroke in 2:22.56, and Dan Mandle (Chelmsford, MA), who finished first in the 200m breaststroke in 2:48.86.

Clarkson's men also took first in the 200m medley relay, led by Stevens, Mandle, Aaron Kreher (Clarence, NY) and Devin Hallam (Schenectady, NY), in a time of 1:57.16.

The women won both of the relay events claiming both the 200m medley and 200m freestyle relays. On the medley relay were Caitlin Joyce (Walden, NY), Anne Hawn (Gouverneur, NY), Kimberlee Stillittano (Binghamton, NY) and Stephanie Seward (Pembroke, NY), while swimming on the winning freestyle relay were Emma Bonan (Queensbury, NY), Amanda Bragan (Auburn, NY), Jillian Brown (Kenmore, NY) and Laura Shaddak (Oswego, NY). Bragan also took first in the 200m breaststroke with a time of 3:03.15.
