Fresh off its second straight 3-1 week, the Clarkson University Volleyball team looks to continue its strong start when it competes in the Oswego State Invitational this weekend.

The Series: Clarkson faces some familiar foes on Friday and Saturday, but some of the opponents have seen long lags since the last match. The Golden Knights take on Oswego State on Friday, a team that Clarkson is 23-20 all-time against, including four straight wins from 2021-2025, three of which were sweeps. Saturday sees the Knights plays Alfred University and Utica University. Clarkson is 8-18 all-time against the Saxons, but has not faced Alfred since a win way back in 2002. The Knights are also 9-4 all-time against Utica, with four sweeps occurring from 2007-2019, with the latter year being the last time the teams met.

Key Stats for Clarkson (6-2): Though the service game wasn't quite up to its opening week, Clarkson still has four players averaging better than 0.4 aces per set. Cecilia Velardi is sixth in the Liberty League at 0.65 aces per set and Olivia Baxter is next at 0.59 aces per set, which ranks 11th. Clarkson's defense has shown up frequently this year, allowing opponents just a .102 hitting percentage.

Key Stats for Oswego State (1-5): Priscilla McReynolds is the top threat for the Lakers, averaging 2.91 kills per set as well as 0.50 aces and 0.50 blocks per game. Mya Bush leads the team in both assists per set (7.63 aps) and digs per set (3.00 dps).

Key Stats for Alfred (3-5): The Saxons offense does not yet have a go-to hitter, but several players are capable of putting the ball down. Carleigh Santavy leads the team with 2.37 kills per set, while Abigail Omelan and Julia Abbott are vying for the second spot, averaging 1.69 kills and 1.63 kills per set, respectively.

Key Stats for Utica (2-8): Trinity Bailey leads the team with an average of 2.80 kills per set and is hitting .153, but the rest of the squad is hitting only .073. The Pioneers are averaging 2.31 aces per set with a handful of players hovering around 0.50 aces per set. The team does not offer much of a block, denying teams at a rate of just 0.58 per set.
