Clarkson will travel to Quinnipiac this weekend looking to knock off the top seeded Bobcats and advance to Lake Placid for the 2nd straight season.
Clarkson advanced to the quarterfinal round after a 2-1 win over RPI last Friday at Cheel in the ECAC Opening Round.
Tate Taylor and Justin Cote scored for the Knights and
Shane Soderwall held the Engineers to 1 goal on 22 shots.
This weekend will mark the first time that Clarkson and Quinnipiac have met in a Quarterfinal series and only the 2nd time these programs have faced each other in the ECAC Playoffs. In 2007, the Knights won a 4-2 decision over the Bobcats in the ECAC Championship game. All time in the Quarterfinal Round Clarkson is 59-28-4 and 38-16 in winning the Quarterfinal series.
Clarkson lost earlier this season at Quinnipiac 4-1 and then tied back at Cheel 3-3 (CU won the shootout).
Matthew Mayich has had good success against the Bobcats in his first two games, scoring 2 goals and adding an assist.
Tristan Sarsland has 8 career games played and also has 2 goals and an assist. Soderwall has been between the pipes for both games this season, giving up 3 goals in each start and has .898 save %.
