JUNIOR YEAR (2025-26):  Soderwall made an immediate impact during his first season at Clarkson, taking over as the Golden Knights’ primary goaltender and starting 35 of the team’s 38 games. The junior finished with a 17-14-3 record, a 2.54 goals-against average, a .905 save percentage and two shutouts. He stopped 789 shots while providing Clarkson with a steady presence throughout the season...Soderwall’s first Division I shutout came against UMass Lowell in the Adirondack Invitational on November 28. The Algonquin, Illinois, native turned aside all 21 shots he faced as Clarkson earned a 2-0 victory at Herb Brooks Arena. Earlier in the season, he delivered a season-high 39 saves in a 5-1 road win over Union and stopped 27 of 28 shots in a narrow 1-0 loss to nationally ranked North Dakota...Soderwall was at his best during Clarkson’s postseason run. He made 21 saves and allowed only one goal in a 2-1 opening-round victory over RPI, advancing the Golden Knights to an ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series against top-seeded Quinnipiac. In the opening game against the Bobcats, Soderwall stopped all 24 shots he faced to record a 3-0 shutout...The following afternoon, Soderwall made 32 saves as Clarkson rallied for a 4-3 victory, completing the quarterfinal sweep and sending the Golden Knights to Lake Placid for the second consecutive season. Across the three postseason victories over RPI and Quinnipiac, he stopped 77 of 81 shots and posted a .951 save percentage.

BEFORE CLARKSON:  

Shane, a native of Illinois, had an outstanding season with Curry College in NCAA Division III during the 2024–25 campaign. The 6’2 netminder played in 28 games and posted a remarkable 1.47 goals-against average with a .945 save percentage. His performance earned him the prestigious Sid Watson Award as the nation's top Division III player and a spot on the AHCA East First Team All-American list.?

One of Shane's most memorable moments came during the NCAA Division III quarterfinals, where he made 98 saves in a four-overtime thriller against Hobart, tying an NCAA record for saves in a game. His exceptional play was instrumental in Curry's historic run to the Frozen Four.?
