Nordic Opens Day 1 of ECSC Regionals in Vermont

Ripton, V.T. - Matthew Clarner and Adam Jansen would both finish in the top-10 of the men's overall standings as the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team opened up the first day of ECSC Divisionals in the Green Mountain State. Skiers competed in the 1.4K Skate Sprint Saturday and will return Sunday to take part in the 7.5K Classic with interval starting times. 

Following impressive qualifying, quarterfinal and semifinal Clarner finished second in the "A" final at 03:19.6, just four seconds behind Phil Matthews of Paul Smiths. Jansen would earn third in the "B" final with a 03:34.9 timestamp. 

Nathaniel Burke (14th), Torsten Brickley (22nd), Silas Bartol (24th), Oliver Dolcino (27th), Braydon Patch (28th) and William Poppleton all had strong qualifying rounds, earning them places in the day's quarterfinals. 

For the women, Skylar Francis finished fifth in the "B" final and 11th overall, following a strong quarterfinal and semifinal showing. Janneke Baks (59th) and Clare Janas (68th) rounded out the competition for the Knights.
