CU Alpine Ski Preview - at Babson Carnival (1/16-17)

In a quick turnaround after its first race of the year, the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team will be back on the road in New England, heading to New Hampshire to compete in two slalom races in the Babson Carnival held at Proctor Ski Area.

The Men: Clarkson will be traveling with a group large enough to fill multiple teams and is seeking similar results to the opening competition in Maine. Freshman Gavin Ebert was the top performer for the Knights in the giant slalom on Tuesday, placing 24th overall in a field of 109 skiers, which was good enough for third among skiers from the MacConnell Division. Sophomore Edouard Brochu had two top-30 finishes in the two-day race at Sunday River, placing 25th out of 113 skiers in the slalom on Monday and then 29th in the giant slalom on Tuesday. Joining those two on the 'A' team this weekend are Jackson Knobloch, Reed Martin, Aleksa Lalic, and Noah Marino. Lalic did not finish his first run on the slalom on Monday, but he came back to take third among Clarkson skiers in the giant slalom on Tuesday.

The Women: The Golden Knights will have one difference in their lineup for this weekend as LilyAnn Fisher will miss out on this weekend due to having skied out in her second run on Tuesday, an unfortunate turn after she was the top performer for Clarkson in the slalom on Monday. Elyse Donaghue was Clarkson's top skier in the giant slalom on Tuesday, taking 10th among 77 competitors, while Hannah Goetz took 21st. Neither of them finished the slalom on Monday, but both have had success at Proctor Ski Area over the years. Last season, Goetz finished 39th out of 92 skiers in the slalom, and she also placed 32nd out of 97 skiers in her freshman year there.
