Two more events remain on the calendar this fall for the Clarkson University Golf team, as the Golden Knights open up October with a Sunday-Monday tournament at Shaker Ridge Country Club, hosted by Rensselaer.

This is the first time that the Engineers are hosting this tournament; the previous attempt was spring tournament in 2020, but that event was cancelled due to COVID-19.

The Field: This will be the most challenging tournament of the year for the Golden Knights, as they will be joined by 12 other schools, several of which are top Liberty League squads. Along with Clarkson and host RPI, Bishop University (Quebec), Farmingdale State College, Hobart College, Mount Saint Mary College (NY), New York University, Russell Sage College, Skidmore College, Springfield College, Steven Institute of Technology, SUNY Delhi, and Swarthmore College will be participating in the tournament.

The Team: Clarkson's five will be the same as the last two travel weekends in Ryan Makowski, Eric Spoth, Joe Tiderencel, Luke Weisiger, and Tyler Yacawych. Makowski continues to have an excellent fall, sporting a 74.13 scoring average through eight competitive rounds. The junior has shot 75 or less in seven of eight rounds and has finished in the top five in all six of the tournaments. Classmate Eric Spoth hasn't been quite as consistent, scoring 75 or less in four of eight rounds, but his scoring average of 75.63 is in line with his career numbers in the fall. Another junior, Luke Weisiger, is also playing well, averaging 76.5 strokes per 18 holes with only one round above 78 this year. Sophomore Tyler Yacawych is averaging 78.25 strokes per round and was third out of 51 golfers just a week ago in Oswego. Similarly, junior Joe Tiderencel (78.75 strokes per 18) was third at the Castleton Invitational two weeks ago.
