Knights Third and 11th in Team Sprint on Saturday, Clarkson Men Claim Overall Title

Lake Placid, NY - The trio of Conner Roberts, Kai Richter, and Joey Rouhana finished third in the Team Sprint Skate on Saturday, and that proved to be just enough for the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team's contingent to claim the overall USCSA National Championship title on the men's side.

The Golden Knights finished with 68 team points over the course of four races, just edging out Paul Smiths (70), which won Saturday's sprint. Clarkson's men won two of the events while Paul Smiths also won twice, ahead of Western Colorado (113), Wyoming (191), and St. Olaf (203) in the top five and the total field of 13 teams. Clarkson's women ended up in ninth place among 14 teams with 358 points.

The USCSA Overall title was the first for the Golden Knights since the women won back in 2019. For the men, it was their first title since 2012 and fourth since the 2003 season.

Roberts, Richter, and Rouhana each posted times below three minutes in the sprint, finishing at 8:25 overall, 23 seconds off the pace set by Paul Smiths. Clarkson's second group of Noah Payne, Torsten Brickley, and Oliver Dolcino was eighth out of 19 teams with a time of 8:59. On the women's side, Skylar Francis, Lillian Magnus, and Raegan Joly combined for a time of 12:46, placing 11th in the field of 20 teams.

In the overall standings, Conner Roberts finished the week in second place out of 61 total skiers, Kai Richter was seventh of 61, and Joey Rouhana took ninth. Noah Payne was 22nd, Torsten Brickley came in 29th, Oliver Dolcino was 35th, and Adam Jansen ended up in 39th. For the women, Skylar Francis was 33rd among 60 competitors and Lillian Magnus was one slot lower in 34th. Sadie Williams came in 39th, Raegan Joly tied for 51st, and Clare Janas was 54th overall.
