Knights Top Team in Nordic 15K Classic at USCSA Nationals

Lake Placid, NY - Three skiers in the top 10 allowed the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team to win its second race of the week at the USCSA National Championships, as the Golden Knights claimed the 15K Classic win on Friday at Mt. Van Hoevenberg.

The Golden Knights scored a team-low 16 points, edging out Paul Smiths (21) for their second victory of the week in Lake Placid. The Golden Knights' women came in 12th out of 17 squads with 124 points in the 15K Classic. The teams will close out the schedule on Saturday when they compete in the Team Sprint Skate.

Roberts was on the podium for the third consecutive race, catching third once again in the 15K Classic among 70 participants. He finished the race in 41 minutes, 28.7 seconds, just edging out his teammate Kai Richter, who came in fourth in 41:33.2. A little further down the leader board was Joey Rouhana, who took ninth overall in 42:57.7 to close out Clarkson's team scoring (3-4-9).

Clarkson ended up with six of its seven skiers in the top half of the field. Beyond Roberts, Richter, and Rouhana, Noah Payne placed 25th (47:16.9), Torsten Brickley came in 28th (47:29.5), Oliver Dolcino took 32nd (48:28.8), and Adam Jansen finished 47th (51:14.3).

For the women, Skylar Francis finished just outside the top half of the field of 68 by coming in 36th place in 1:07:23.1. Lillian Magnus finished 10 spots later in 46th place with a time of 1:13:19.8, and Sadie Williams was 10 more spots after Magnus in 56th, finishing in 1:21:40.1, rounding out Clarkson's team score. Raegan Joly (62nd, 1:32:24.0) and Clare Janas (63rd, 1:38:17.0) closed out Clarkson's participants.
