Roberts Squeaks Out 12.5K Classic Win at Paul Smiths Invitational

Paul Smiths, NY - Conner Roberts just topped a skier from Paul Smiths by eight-tenths of a second in the 12.5K Classic race, headlining the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team's weekend at the Bobcats Invitational, held at the Visitor Interpretive Center.

The Golden Knights' men finished second out of seven teams while the women were sixth among 11 squads. Clarkson competes at the Mansfield Divisionals in New Hampshire next weekend.

Roberts and Aidan Ripp of Paul Smiths dueled one another for the top podium spot in the 12.5K Classic race on Sunday, with Roberts just sneaking past Ripp with a time of 32 minutes, 39.5 seconds, to lead the group of 49 skiers and winning by less than a second. Kai Richter was the next skier for the Knights in the standings, finishing in 34:50.0 in seventh place, while Noah Payne closed out Clarkson's scoring trio with a time of 35:38.2, good enough for ninth place. Oliver Dolcino was five spots down in 14th place in 36:41.9 and Torsten Brickley was in the top half of participants in 38:14.9, which had him in 23rd place.

On the women's side, Lillian Magnus was the top performer for the Knights, placing 12th out of 63 skiers in 45:04.6. Skylar Francis finished less than a minute behind Magnus in 45:48.1, placing her 16th. Clarkson would not close out its scoring until Raegan Joly took 47th place with a time of 56:57.4. Sadie Williams finished in the next spot in 48th in 57:03.6 and Clare Janas came in 62nd in 1:25:32.7.
