Roberts Runner-Up Twice for CU Nordic at ECSC Regionals

Saranac Lake, NY - Conner Roberts was on the podium twice as the runner-up over the weekend for the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team as the Golden Knights competed in the ECSC Regionals, held at Dewey Mountain Recreation Center. 

On Saturday, the Golden Knights' men finished second out of nine teams in the Classic Sprint, finishing with 25 points, while the Clarkson women were in the middle of the pack in fifth place among nine teams with 90 points. On Sunday, Clarkson's men were tied for second with 31 points in the 7.5K Skate and the Golden Knights' women placed fifth out of 10 teams with a total of 76 points. 

Saturday evening's sprint race placed skiers with their top time in two trips around the loop. Roberts' top time in two sprints was 4:43.6, second among the 56 skiers. Kai Richter was just outside the top 10, taking 11th with a time of 5:11.5, and Noah Payne finished one spot lower in 12th in 5:14.4 to close out Clarkson's team score of 25. Also in the top half for the springs was Torsten Brickley, who took 28th in 5:37.9. 

For the women, Skylar Francis was the top performer for the Golden Knights, taking 23rd out of 56 competitors with a time of 7:03.8. Lillian Magnus ended up in 29th place in 7:16.1, and Raegan Joly came in 38th with a time of 7:56.4 to finish the team score (90).

Francis again led the Knights on Sunday in the 7.5K Skate, taking 15th out of 57 skiers with a time of 27:47.6. Lillian Magnus had the next spot for the Knights, taking 19th overall in 28:16.5, and Joly again closed out the Clarkson team score by taking 42nd in 34:41.0.

Roberts had the runner-up spot in the 7.5K Skate among 53 skiers, finishing the event with a time of 20:31.5. Kai Richter edged his way into the top 10 on day two, taking eighth place in 21:36.2. Once again, it was Noah Payne who closed out Clarkson's score, placing 21st with a time of 22:54.0. Adam Jansen (23rd, 23:09.7) and Torsten Brickley (24th, 23:15.2) were also in the top 25.
