Roberts Second, Francis in Top 10 to Highlight Clarkson Nordic at Mansfield Divisionals

Jackson, NH – Grad student Conner Roberts finished in second place in the 15K Classic for the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team, headlining the Golden Knights performance on day one of the Mansfield Divisionals, held at the Jackson Ski Touring Center.

The Golden Knights' men finished in second place out of eight teams with 16 points, trailing only Paul Smiths (12). The Clarkson women closed out in fourth out of eight squads. The teams will be back in action on Sunday morning, competing in team relays.

Roberts was over a minute off the pace of the leader in the mass start 15K Classic, finishing with a time of 46 minutes, 36 seconds, roughly eight seconds ahead of the third-place finisher. Just off the podium was grad student Kai Richter, who took fourth place among the 45 skiers in 47:02. Noah Payne then capped the team scoring with a 10th-place finish, crossing the line in 50:05. Clarkson would have placed second without Payne, as Torsten Brickley finished two spots and eight seconds later, taking 12th in 50:13. Oliver Dolcino also finished in less than 51 minutes, taking the 14th spot in 50:50.

On the women's side, first-year Skyler Francis rounded out the top 10, finishing off the 15K Classic in 1:05:37 to lead Clarkson's contingent for the day. Senior Lillian Magnus was the next Golden Knight to cross the line, as she placed 17th in the field of 57 with a time of 1:07:11. It would be a bit longer before another Clarkson skier would finish, but first-year collegian Sadie Williams came through about 14 minutes after Magnus, taking the 36th spot in 1:21.16. Raegan Joly (37th, 1:24.25) and Claire Janas (50th, 1:49:05) closed out Clarkson's participants in the event.
