Rouhana and Payne Lead Knights in Sprints

Huntington, VT – On the second day of the Vermont Invitational, the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team was atop the standings on the men's side as three top-eight finishers helped the Golden Knights win the 1.1K Skate Sprint race at Sleepy Hollow Inn Ski and Bike Center.

The Golden Knights' men just squeaked out the win over Middlebury, finishing with 16 points compared to the Panthers' 17 points. On the women's side, the Golden Knights tied for fifth after being without Lillian Magnus, scoring 74 points.

Clarkson's men were led by sophomore Joey Rouhana, who took third place in the top heat after several rounds of qualifiers. Noah Payne also was in the first heat and finished fifth overall. Kai Richter took the second spot in heat number two, claiming the eighth spot overall to finish Clarkson's scoring at 16 points. Oliver Dolcino (15th) and Adam Jansen (23rd) were also in the top five heats, with 54 skiers competing overall in the men's race.

On the women's side, Skylar Francis was Clarkson's top skier, taking 28th overall out of 60 participants. Raegan Joly (39th), Saide Williams (47th), and Claire Janas (58th) were in the bottom half of the race's results.
