Rouhana Tops Podium at Vermont Invitational

Huntington, VT – Sophomore Joey Rouhana won the 10K Skiathlon for the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team, as the Golden Knights competed at the Vermont Invitational on Saturday at the Sleepy Hollow Inn Ski and Bike Center.

The Golden Knights' men finished first among seven teams with just 10 points, ahead of Middlebury (24), Vermont 25), Cornell, McGill, Dartmouth, and Northeastern. On the women's side, Clarkson finished fifth out of eight squads with 82 points, behind Vermont (12), Cornell (18), Middlebury (23), and McGill (57), but ahead of Northeastern, Hamilton, and Dartmouth. The teams will be back in action on Sunday for the sprint races.

Rouhana won the 10K for the Knights with a time of 29:55.7 as the only skier below the 30-minute mark for the day. That was 20 seconds ahead of teammate Kai Richter, who had the third podium position among the 58 participants, closing out his time in 30:15.1. Noah Payne then finished the Clarkson scoring by taking sixth overall in 31:00.5 as the Knights cruised to the win. Had Clarkson needed to score without Payne, the team still would have won thanks to the performance Oliver Dolcino, who came in 13th in 31:45.2. Further down the list for Clarkson was Torsten Brickley in 15th with a time of 32:01.9, and Adam Jansen was also in the top 20 with the 19th position in 32:22.6.

On the women's side, first-year collegian Skylar Francis took seventh out of 76 skiers, crossing the finish line with a time of 37:33.4. Senior Lillian Magnus ended up with a time just over 40 minutes, coming in 22nd in 40:19.9. Raegan Joly closed out the Clarkson scoring in 53rd place with a time of 50:36.4. Sadie Williams wasn't too far behind, finishing in 56th in 52:30.9, and Clare Janas ended up in 65th in 1:12:12.8.
