Rouhana In Top Three to Open Clarkson Nordic Season

Lake Placid, NY – Sophomore Joey Rouhana and first-year collegian Skylar Francis led the way for the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team on Friday afternoon, as the Golden Knights opened up the 2024 season Friday afternoon at Mt. Van Hoevenberg.

The Golden Knights' men were second among four teams with 17 points, trailing Paul Smith's College (8) and just ahead of Middlebury (22), while the women were fourth in their race with 48 points.

Rouhana claimed a podium finish by taking third among 26 skiers in the men's 5K Classic race, finishing the event in 14 minutes, 44.8 seconds. That was just two seconds ahead of teammate Conner Roberts in the interval timing, as Robert finished the race in 14:46.8. Oliver Dolcino claimed 10th to round out Clarkson's scoring with a time of 16:17.6. One spot below Dolcino was Adam Jansen in 11th place in 16:48.4, while Torsten Brickley (19th, 18:29.9) and Konrad Kremzner (20th, 18:41.1) rounded out the top 20.

For the women, Francis was just one spot outside of the top 10 in a field of 28 skiers, taking 11th overall in 22:02.1 in her collegiate debut. Lillian Magnus was next in 12th place with a time of 22:09.8. Further down the leader board was Raegan Joly, who ended up in 25th in 28:51.0 to close out Clarkson's scoring trio. Sadie Williams (27th, 29:52.5) and Clare Janas (28th, 45:56.4) were the last two skiers for the Knights on the day.
